Bike Etiquette and Safety

Very busy with work,and traveling, but I’m taking the time to write this post of cycling etiquette and safety. More and more cyclists are on the road, now that the weather is warming up. Some have some poor safety practices, and I wish I could give them this advice:
- Regardless of what the laws are in your state, always wear a helmet, gloves and properly fitting cycle shoes.
- Carry a jacket or arm warmers – bike rides are usually long, and rain can creep up on you out in the middle of nowwhere.
- Learn how to change a bike tire.
- From experience, I now always carry two spare tubes and a pump or CO2. My buddy hit a pot hole once, because the guy in front didn’t point it out. He ended up with TWO flats at once. Luckily he did have two spare tubes.
- I always carry my cell phone, cash and my ID.
- ALWAYS look for cars – they probably won’t, and don’t want to see you. You can only make that mistake once.
