My race is only days away — how can I win?
Rachel wants to know what she can do to win race, and her race is days away. Rachel is competing in a running race, and my advice to her is to stay rested. When you’re this close to race day, it’s time to just maintain your current race, and stop working on speed. It’s OK to have some bursts of speed but, make sure you cool down and stretch afterwards. You want to feel rested and full of energy for race day. And you don’t want to risk injury this close to race day.
If you’re preparing for a triathlon or duathlon race, you can use the final days before the race to practice your transitions — because seconds can make a huge difference in your overall triathlon finish time.
>Stay hydrated over the next several days. If you’re thristy, you’re waiting too long between drinks. Eat healthy balanced meals — skip fast food. It will definitely drag you down and make you slower. The night before the race, eat some carbs like whole grain pasta On race day morning, eat something like oatmeal or a banana depending on
what you like that will give you energy. Take the day off and rest
(Friday if the race is Sunday) two days before the race. The day
before the race go through each stage - swim, bike and run and just
warm up to get your muscles loose. Stretch afterwards. Then just
have a normal day and do things that may take your mind off the race
like catch a movie.Hope that helps and good luck!!
